TF2 Competition Ideas

Hey everyone lately the admins were talking about forming competitions on TF2 House of Hellion. Well post some ideas you may have about this as im sure this will make it quick and easy for them to get through of making such a event and post some maps that you think you would like to play on, this will give some insight for decision making.

Well i was thinking as for matches either being 8v8 or 6v6 while the others are spectating the players as they play. As for types of maps i think playing CP maps(control points) will do the best as the players will make it fast games and it won't take 30 mins. Example: playing on 2fort and everyone just goes engie and just builds there base making the enemy team unable to cap at all. I don't know if they would want to lock the server to allow this to happen, though i would't like to do this to pubs coming in but it won't allow them to interrupt the event.

As for classes i think all of them should be allowed to be used (don't know if you admins thought of this) but i do think there should be a set limit as i mention before having a full group of engies/heavy/spys/snipers it would make the game very easy for your team or the enemys to win.

I have also heard that prizes will be given but the way i heard one suggestion "highest scorer will win one" i don't know if that would be really good method to use as if you go heavy you most likely will get alot of points(if killing alot), well i thought of a way that which ever team wins you could use a random name picker that i was told of, though if you could find a better program thats completely find but Andy told me of this and so it basicly picks a name out of random that you have put down and the persons name would come up and they would win. I'll post it below try it out, of course if this method is used and if you could find a better way then thats just as great.
A Alt. of that is that we could get 2 prize of both teams by using the method i said.

As for a random idea of mine when you are trading with the winner you could wrap the prizes(1.99 for wrapping) they won't know excatly what they are getting, so they won't know if there getting a hat/strange weps/key/etc. i don't really think this idea would be really used, but its one of thoughs just thrown out there.

This is all i could of think of the moment, if you're confused or questioning any of theses feel free to post it.

This seems like a good idea, it should be mostly CP and KOTH maps (with a possible exception of Dustbowl since that can take a very long time). Might I also suggest throwing some arena maps into the mix? They can be very intense and are always great fun to watch, lumberyard, well, granary, ravine and sawmill would be good choices. Also I think we should avoid a "highest score=winner" system since this doesn't often properly reflect teamwork and encourages "lonewolfing". Finally class limits might be a good idea, how about a highlander (one of each class on each team with nine players) system?

comp

There are 2 types of competitive TF2 that would be a lot of fun to play (excluding our normal competitions that is)

There's 6v6 teams:
These teams normally consist of 2 soldiers (1 roaming, and 1 pocket) 2 scouts, 1 medic, and 1 demoman.
The scouts would often play other classes depending on the situation and map.
We could play on a lot of CP and KOTH maps, as mentioned.
Having people sign up somewhere to be on a certain team (all of the teams would have to be balanced out so that one team doesn't have all of our best players) and play a certain class would solve the class limit issues.
These are just basic guidelines for the normal Professional TF2 competitions that I've watched, nothing here would be set in stone of course :P

And then there's 9v9 Highlander matches.
9 people per team, 1 person per class.
These matches are always fun, and would be a great way to prevent class overflows, since only one person would be playing as each class.
We could set these up the same as the 6v6 teams, by having people sign up to play on a certain team, and a certain class (once again, we would want the teams to be balanced so that one team doesn't just dominate the others)

This is about the extent of my competitive TF2 knowledge, but I would love to see it happen on our home server :D
(We could also have days when we practice with and without low grav to keep it mixed up! Except low grav nades and stickies :P)

Personal favorite

We could forgo the whole TF2 thing and have a "Who can devour the most bacon in 10 minutes wins" competition. I've had a butter eating contest, but no one ever really "Wins" at those...
